Kendall Schille was born in Ottawa but calls Calgary home. She remained in Calgary for her education, completing her BA in Psychology at Mount Royal University in 2012 and her JD at the University of Calgary in 2018. Before becoming a lawyer Kendall was introduced to the profession in a legal assistant capacity. This experience exposed her to areas of law that she didn’t even know existed and found the stories of employment law particularly interesting. Kendall took on law school to learn how the law works and how she can use it to make a positive change in people’s lives.
To date, Kendall has already made significant contributions to the legal industry including a Joint submission to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Environment and Sustainable Development, on changes to Bill C-69, regarding changes to the federal Environmental Impact Assessment process and in particular proposed changes to the public participation requirement of impact assessments. Kendall volunteered with Student Legal Assistance and the Pro Bono Students Canada Human Rights project in law school, facilitating access to justice for low-income clients. She is looking forward to bringing this drive and ambition into her legal practice as well.
The level of involvement with the community is what drew Kendall to North & Company. As a young lawyer, Kendall has also appreciated the mentorship present at North & Company, especially from the other woman lawyers at the firm. Kendall is looking forward to learning as much as she can so she can continue to strive in assisting people when they’re making some of the biggest decisions of their lives. In this process, Kendall has enjoyed being able to put a face and name to the files she is working on. Working out of the Pincher Creek Office has allowed Kendall to meet a lot of people very quickly and she’s excited to get more involved and give back to the community she’s proud to be working for.
Kendall just moved to the Pincher Creek community and has been making time outside of work to explore the town and surrounding area on her walks with her dog. In the summer, she tries to get out to her family cabin in the Shuswap for boating, quadding, and wine tours. Kendall can often be found reading and is always looking for a craft fair to tour through.
